Well, we have a big surprise in store for you coming in the next few months! Thanks to a very generous grant from ING for their Unsung Heroes program (which you’ll hear more about in another post), sometime in October or November we’ll be sharing this big surprise with the world!
As a hint, we can tell you that it has to do with our Math Movie Network. In order to prepare for it, we’ve been reworking our Math Movie Network logo. However, we couldn’t decide on one so we thought we’d post all of the ones we created and let you vote for the winner! Take a look at all the potential new logos and vote for your favorite. Voting will close on September 15 and the winning logo will be unveiled along with our big surprise!

Dear Mr. Avery,
I wanted to congratulate you on getting married. It looks like you had fun on your honeymoon. I am such a lucky student to have you as a teacher. I will try to be the student I can be. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND !8)
Sincerely,
Matthew D.
Dear Mr. Avery,
I just voted for Reel Simple for the Math Movie Network logo. I don’t know why but I think it looks cooler than the other ones.
Right now I’m over my friend’s house playing Wii and as people in Boston say “it’s wicked awesome.” 😆
Sincerely,
Chris
Hi Chris,
I think that was a great choice! I have a hard time deciding which one I think is the best. I definitely have a few favorites but I’m not going to share them until later because I don’t want to influence anybody’s decision!
I hope that you had fun playing Wii with your friend. Thanks for taking time to stop and write a comment on here! I’ll see you on Tuesday!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I am so excited for when we make our class videos. I was wondering about our news team. What will it be called News Team 8? 😆
Sincerely,
John L.
Hi John,
I’m glad you’re excited for it! I definitely am too. I’m really looking forward to making some new videos this year. I am not really sure what it will be called quite yet. I’m definitely open to suggestions. Do you think it should be News Team 8?
Have a great weekend. I’ll see you on Tuesday!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I had a really fun first week of school with you! I am so excited that I got you for homeroom and I am looking forward to the rest of the year. See you next week!
Sincerely,
Erica V.
Hi Erica,
Thanks for hopping on and writing a comment on the blog! I love seeing students get on from home and write to me! I’m very excited to have you in my homeroom too! I thought we had a great start to the year and I’m really excited for what we’ll be able to accomplish!
Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you on Tuesday!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I like all the logos that you have made. My favorite logo is the Lights, Camera, Action. I like it because all the different colors that it has in it. 😆

Dear Mr. Avery,
I picked Lights Camera Action. I chose that because I liked the different colors in it. I also liked the lettering that says Math Movie Network. 😆

Mr. Avery’s class blog
Dear Mr. Avery,
How is your class? Middle school is really different. It’s hard to open lockers. On the first day of school we had to switch homerooms so now I’m in Mr. MacKenzie’s. It was very confusing.
I miss snack! I get so hungry now. And it’s not the same without recess. So far we haven’t had any homework. But tomorrow is gonna be tough because I don’t yet fully understand my schedule. Today I forgot to label my binders and brought the wrong ones. And when I went to my locker to get the right ones I had trouble opening it. Even though I’m Irish, I’m not that lucky!🍀
I really like your different logos for the Math Movie Network. I love surprises, this post is really cool.
I hope your students are cooperative! Have a great year!
From,
Ari
Hi Ari,
So great to hear from you but not so great to hear how tough the first couple of days have been! I’m sure you’re going to love the middle school once you get used to things though!
My students this year have been great so far. Everyone has been listening really well. We’ve spent the last couple days learning how to use the Chromebooks and Edmodo. I think they are all very excited to use those!
I hope you have a great year. Come visit sometime soon! Miss Girard and I would love to see you and Jackie and hear how your school year is going!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
Mr. Avery,
I love your class blog. I was wondering what you use to make these amazing Logos? I would love to to revamp my 8th grade class blog.
Any info would be greatly appreciated,
Sarah Downey
Hi Sarah,
I actually make all my own logos in Photoshop. I’ve pretty much learned how to use it through Google and YouTube and it’s become one of my most used tools as a teacher. I use it all the time on here, to create materials for class, etc. If you have any ideas for what you want to do with your class blog, I’d be more than happy to help out, maybe create a header for you. Let me know!
Mr. Avery
Dear Mr. Avery,
I voted for the “Lights, Camera, Action!” I was torn between 3 different ones. They were:
Color It In
TV Time
and Lights, Camera, Action!
Congrats on getting married Mr. Avery, I already emailed Miss Girard and she told me you got married so, congrats! I’m also curious about the upcoming surprise. I don’t have any clue. Can’t you just secretly tell me?
Tristan- 🙂
Hi Tristan,
So great to hear from you! I hope you’re having a wonderful summer and getting ready for middle school! I’m sure Taite has filled you in on all the fun you’ll have up there!
You made some good choices. I’m torn between a few of them too! It’s so hard to decide which is why I thought I would put them on here for everyone else to choose! I voted for Color It In but I think any of them would be a good choice!
I can’t share the surprise quite yet but you’ll have to check back later in the year to figure out what it is!
Sincerely,
Mr. Avery
